EUROVISIONI XXXIV: from December 18

Dear friends,

We are pleased to inform you that –after many changes and back-and-forth decisions- finally the XXXIV edition of Eurovisioni’s Festival will start next Friday December’s 18 with the Italian Day. The International Day will follow at the end of January 2021.

We are very sorry for the delay it took to announce the new calendar, but the many programmes elaborated all along last weeks, have been revisited and changed at least some dozens of times, in function of the ever-changing health measures taken by Italian and European authorities.

This time the new decree of the Italian government will cover the whole period until the end of Christmas’ break and this gave us, at least, some visibility for the month ahead.

The Italian day will take place only in a virtual form, with the signal starting from RAI headquarters in Rome, thanks to the kind support of RAI International relations, an always reliable partner of Eurovisioni. All connections will be established starting from this central control room and signal will be redistributed everywhere through a digital platform. You’ll receive in the very next day a link through which you can register and to follow live the works on Eurovisioni social media pages.

WARNING: Italian day will take place exclusively in Italian language, while the International Day at the end of January will take place in the traditional three languages (English, French and Italian).

In the very next days, more detailed information will be published on Eurovisioni’s websites (www.eurovisioni.it; .eu; .com). Common topic to both Days (Italian and International) will be the Transformation of the European public space of the communication into a virtual space and which consequences this will implies in the relations between media and citizens.

During the Italian day, the topic will be discussed in cooperation with Infocivica association -that shall present the 1st issue of the new quarterly Review Democrazia Futura-; with the Italian chapter of the European Movement and Compubblica association -that shall discuss the communication crisis during the Pandemy- and with University of Rome and AAMOD -that shall present the importance of collective audiovisual memory in a period characterized by large collective amnesia-.

The International Day –that shall take place in the new year- will see the traditional session organized in cooperation with AGCOM and French CSA on European rules. This year will focus on new EU decisions such as the new DSA-Digital Service Act, and the EDAP – European Democracy Action Plan, and on the upcoming decisions of the national regulators on Video Sharing Platform new system of rules. In January also will take place the traditional events in partnership with Articolo 21 (the school competition that will focus this year on the right to education) and with Premio Morrione (the competition of the best investigative reports journalism projects).

Eurovisioni thanks sincerely the French Embassy in Italy, the Institut Français in Italy, the French Academy in Rome and the Municipality of Rome, that had already confirmed the availability of their spaces (Palazzo Farnese, Villa Medici and Sala della Protomoteca), before that sanitary measures will oblige to transform Eurovisioni XXXIV into a virtual event only.

Eurovisioni’s Association also thanks all European and Italian institutions that support this event every year, including in this very special one. Especially those like Eutelsat, France Télévisions, RTBF, Luxembourg FF and other that have confirmed their engagement for 2020.  We are all convinced that their trust will find the best reply in the XXXIVth edition, that we strongly hope will be at the same quality level of Eurovisioni’s tradition.
